Who is Capital Bank?

Capital Bank N.A. headquartered in Rockville, Maryland is a Maryland chartered commercial bank that offers commercial and consumer banking services to clients in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, alongside two nation-wide lending brands; Capital Bank Home Loans, a mortgage division that lends in all 50 states, and OpenSky a credit card division that offers and services credit cards across all states.

Capital Bank focuses on merging digitally based products with personalized services. This enables our commercial sales teams, mortgage loan officers and OpenSky customer care associates to deliver a meaningful customer experience customized by the nature of the relationship, whether it be a credit card, a home loan, or a commercial customer with complicated lending and treasury needs. Our expansion has been deliberate with a focus on trading brick and mortar expenses for investment in digital technologies to enable our customers to focus on their goals, or their personal vision.

Capital Bank opened its doors in 1999 amidst the beginning of industry-wide consolidation. As other banks were contracting during the changing economy, we continued to grow our client and asset base. Today we are more than $1 billion in assets and have experienced consistent double-digit year-over-year growth. Capital Bancorp Inc. is publicly traded on the NASDAQ global market under the symbol “CBNK”. Capital Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) and an Equal Housing Lender.

Our Story

Capital Bank opened its doors in 1999 amidst the beginning of industry-wide consolidation. As other banks were contracting during the changing economy, we continued to grow our client and asset base. Partnering with Metropolitan D.C. business owners, we deliver the right banking solutions, showing our customers today, as we did then, that Capital Bank is more than just a transactional bank; we maintain a collaborative culture of banking, invested in the success of our clients.

In addition, Capital Bank has two nationwide consumer services. The credit card division, OpenSky, focuses on providing credit rebuilding tools and financial education to our customers. Capital Bank Mortgage also originates almost half a billion dollars annually in loan volume. Capital Bank Mortgage employs several of the top mortgage originators in the nation, who continue to achieve their top ranking due to their expertise and dedication in helping their customers get the right loan.
