Ed Barry joined Capital Bank, N.A. as Chief Executive Officer in September 2012.  Since that time, the bank has rapidly expanded throughout the DC area and into Baltimore.   Growth has exceeded 25% per year in assets and loans while maintaining a return on equity in excess of 14%.   Under his leadership, the share price has climbed 130%.  Capital Bank has consistently been recognized as one of the top performing banks in the U.S. and in 2015 was named to the Future 50 by SmartCEO magazine.   In 2014, it won Product Innovation of the year in payments by Retail Bankers International.  Mr Barry was named a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year program, Mid-Atlantic region, in 2016.

Previously Mr Barry was Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Analytics for Capital One Bank where he lead the product, analytics and marketing teams for the Small Business division.  He rapidly expanded the product portfolio and drove 15% new customer growth per year while increasing sales productivity by over 50%.

Prior to Capital One, Mr. Barry worked at Bank of America as Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing.  In this position, he served as lead marketing executive for their $3b Business Banking division and he also was an executive in the Consumer Marketing and Strategy groups.

Previous experience also includes leading project teams at E&Y/Capgemini as Manager, Strategy and Transformation responsible for creating and implementing initiatives to drive the firm’s e-business customer acquisition and retention strategy.

Mr. Barry received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Relations from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.

He is Chairman of the Board of Make-A-Wish Foundation Mid-Atlantic.  Mr. Barry is married and lives in Virginia with his wife and three children.
