With deep expertise spanning mobile and payment product innovation, AI and data strategy, cloud migration, and enterprise platform development, Don brings a rare combination of large-scale operational leadership and forward-looking technology vision.
Don’s career spans more than two and a half decades at Capital One, where he rose from Director of America One, Capital One’s pioneering telephony venture, to Executive Vice President, Enterprise Digital & Data Platforms. In that capacity, he led a team of more than 5,000 associates and served as the primary architect of Capital One’s transformation into a digital-first company. Under his leadership, Capital One doubled customer digital adoption, delivered cost savings of hundreds of millions of dollars, and scaled its mobile platform to over 30 million users, earning multiple J.D. Power Awards for customer experience excellence.
Don’s notable accomplishments include launching “Eno,” the first branded enterprise digital assistant powered by generative AI, leading Capital One’s full migration to Amazon Web Services, developing the company’s enterprise API strategy and governance framework, and advancing its data strategy to support CCPA compliance and enterprise-wide AI/ML capabilities. Throughout his career, Don has demonstrated the ability to balance bold, large-scale innovation with rigorous risk management and regulatory discipline, a combination especially valuable in the banking sector.
Since departing Capital One, Don has channeled his operator expertise into consulting and advising financial services firms through Arica, a consulting firm he co-founded. Arica helps companies navigate technology strategy, digital product development, and the complexities of regulated market expansion.
Don is a committed community leader and previously served on the board of Commonwealth Autism, a Virginia nonprofit working to drive systemic change for individuals on the autism spectrum. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and is based in Richmond, Virginia.
