Paul Merritt

Paul Merritt joined Capital Bank in 2008 and now serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Real Estate Lending Officer. 

Mr. Merritt is a lifelong banking professional with more than 30 years of lending experience in commercial and residential real estate across the Washington, DC, metro area. He has financed billions of dollars in real estate transactions spanning a wide range of asset classes, including retail, office, warehouse/flex, land, traditional ADC (subdivision) lending, residential rental, and speculative for-sale residential properties.

His primary focus is residential urban infill and redevelopment, with deep expertise in construction lending throughout Washington, DC, and the surrounding close-in suburbs.

Prior to joining Capital Bank, he held senior construction and commercial lending roles at several community banks in the DC metro area.

He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, and currently resides in Washington, DC.
